Cannabis Dosage Guide — Flower, Edibles & Concentrates (Canada)

Cannabis Dosage Guide — Flower, Edibles & Concentrates (Canada)

Whether you are new to cannabis or switching formats, understanding dose is the most important step for a good experience. This guide from the Ganja Express team covers flower, edibles measured in milligrams of THC, and concentrates, with practical, Canadian-specific notes.

Dried flower

Amount Rough THC delivered* Notes
Small pinch (0.1–0.2 g) Low Good for testing a new strain’s effect
Standard joint (0.3–0.5 g) Moderate Common single-session amount
Full session (0.5–1.0 g) Higher Best shared or spread over an evening

*Actual THC delivered depends on the strain’s potency, how it is consumed and individual tolerance — treat these as rough starting points, not guarantees.

Edibles — dosing in milligrams of THC

Onset for edibles is typically 30–90 minutes and can take longer on a full stomach. Wait at least two hours before considering another dose — the most common mistake with edibles is redosing too early because the first dose has not kicked in yet. Our edibles and capsules are labelled with exact THC content per unit.

Concentrates

Concentrates such as shatter, live resin and distillate are far more potent by weight than flower, often 50–90% THC. A dab the size of a grain of rice is a full dose for most people. If you are new to dabbing, start with the smallest amount your equipment allows.

Tinctures

Tinctures are dosed by the drop or millilitre, applied under the tongue or added to food and drink. Onset is faster sublingually (15–45 minutes) than when swallowed. Start with the lowest labelled dose and adjust gradually.

Factors that change your experience

Safety basics

Storage

Store flower in an airtight, light-proof container in a cool, dry place to preserve potency and aroma. Concentrates last longest refrigerated. Edibles should follow the storage instructions on the label and be kept out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How long do effects last? Smoking or vaping: roughly 1–3 hours. Edibles: 4–8 hours.

Can I build a tolerance? Yes — regular use reduces sensitivity over time for most people.

Is a higher grade always a stronger high? Generally, but strain genetics and consumption method matter just as much as grade.

How should I store my order? Airtight, cool, dark and dry for flower; as labelled for edibles and tinctures.
